Thank you for your interest in establishing a NAEEA Special Interest Group (SIG). SIGs play an important role in strengthening collaboration, research, professional learning, and innovation across the Enabling sector.

Please complete the template below and submit it to the NAEEA Executive for consideration.

2. Purpose and Rationale

Please provide a 200 word overview of the proposed SIG, including:

  • The focus area or theme of the SIG
  • Why this SIG is needed within the Enabling sector
  • Current challenges, gaps, or opportunities the SIG will address
  • How the SIG will support educators, researchers, practitioners, or students within the sector

3. Alignment with NAEEA Aims and Strategic Priorities

Please explain in 100-200 words how the proposed SIG aligns with the aims and values of NAEEA, including how it may contribute to:

  • Equity and access in higher education
  • Student success and belonging
  • Professional collaboration and networking
  • Research and scholarship
  • Innovation and best practice in Enabling education
  • Sector advocacy and leadership

4. Proposed Activities and Outcomes

Please outline the types of activities the SIG may undertake during its first 12 months. Examples may include:

  • Webinars
  • Research collaborations
  • Professional learning opportunities
  • Conference presentations or symposiums
  • Resource sharing
  • Publications or discussion papers
  • Networking opportunities

5. Proposed Convenors

Each SIG must nominate two convenors from different institutions to encourage cross-institutional collaboration and shared leadership.
