The future of higher education is shaped not only by universities and governments, but also by the professional communities working every day to improve student outcomes. Through its contribution to the Australian Universities Accord, NAEEA ensured that the experiences of Enabling educators formed part of this important national conversation.
The Association’s submission highlighted the critical role Enabling education plays in widening participation and supporting learners who may not have followed traditional pathways into university. It reinforced the importance of equity, inclusion and lifelong learning while recognising the changing needs of Australia’s communities and workforce.
NAEEA advocated for greater recognition of Enabling programs as an essential component of the higher education system rather than an optional pathway. The submission also reflected the practical experience of members working across universities throughout Australia, providing insights grounded in evidence and day-to-day teaching practice.
Advocacy is one of the Association’s most important responsibilities. By representing members in national policy discussions, NAEEA helps ensure that Enabling education remains visible, valued and supported.
